With the Guidelines as the main reference, this course will walk participants through the process of building positive foundations of mutual respect and trust, essential to collaborative work. In response to this need, the Guidelines for Collaboration ( was developed over a period of several years with the participation of over 50 Native and non-Native museum professionals, scholars, and artists. However, resources to help guide this work have been lacking. Museums and indigenous communities are increasingly seeking to engage in collaborative working relationships.
